Keynote Speaker #2: Mr. Manuel Maqueda

Location: Cafeteria

Keynote Description: Hooked on Plastic: Truths About Plastic PollutionFloating continents of garbage, plastic beaches, seabirds feeding bottle caps to their chicks, plankton that eats micro plastics, toxic loads in our bodies, pre-polluted newborn babies,… These are some of the bizarre manifestations of plastic pollution, a toxic plague contaminating our world, and poisoning our bodies. Manuel Maqueda’s eye-opening talk will challenge the core beliefs of our disposable culture – busting myths that even environmentalists believe – and change forever our perception of the world around us. In addition, he will lay out simple actions that we can all take at home, at school, and in our communities to drastically reduce our plastic footprint, and to protect our bodies from dangerous chemicals leached by plastic.
