The Costa Rican Ministry of Foreign Affairs details further information with regards to visas in each individual embassy or consulate website. We strongly suggest calling to confirm individual requirements and to follow the recommended detailed instructions.

Visitor’s Visa Required: 30-90 Day Stay AND Valid for 6 months

 

When is a Restricted Visa Required?

For residents and nationals of the following list of countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cuba, Eritrea, Ethiopia. Haiti, Iran, Iraq, Jamaica, Birmania, Syria, North Korea, Somalia, and Sri Lanka. In order to apply for the visa, the passport has to be valid for at least six months posterior to the request and is granted for a maximum of thirty to ninety days within the Costa Rican territory. The difference between the regular and the restricted visa is that the second option is pertinent to specific countries for which the government has additional requirements.
