Impact Statement:

The world faces serious problems such as malnutrition, global warming, and people in poverty. We have chosen to make this bench in hopes of taking a step closer to solving global warming and creating inspiration in other people, and schools. We found the solar bench project on our latest G.I.N conference in Brazil. The purpose of this project is to reduce excess pollution and recycle energy. Also to get energy from huge natural energy sources, like the sun. We transformed the idea into a SOLAR TREE instead of a bench. The solar tree is used at our school for people be able to charge their phones, tablets, computers etc. The tree is powered by solar panels which transmit energy to let you charge your devices.

Fight Against Poverty

Essential Question:

[/su_tab] [su_tab title=”Impact Statement”]

Impact Statement:

We have successfully served our community, specifically the relatives of the patients of El Seguro Social Hospital, by organizing a race in which all of the profit (Lmps. 62,449.01) was used to equip Casa David’s kitchen. The new kitchen will help prepare 2 meals a day for 30 people, preparing 60 meals a day, which translates to 1,800 meals a month or 21,900 a year. As a second stage in this project we are creating a vegetable garden that will work as a permanent strategy to supply fresh produce for the people in Casa David.

Workshop Description:

For our project, we decided to follow up the activity we organized for Casa David last year. Casa David is an organization dedicated to provide shelter to the relatives of patients of the public hospital, El Seguro Social, in our capital city, Tegucigalpa. Last year, we organized a race in which the profits enabled us to fully equip this shelter’s kitchen, but also helped us create awareness of this cause and hopefully open more doors of opportunity and help towards this organization. This year, we are planning on providing Casa David with a vegetable garden which will hopefully provide permanent fresh produce. We we able to do this through extensive planning, paying close attention to details, commitment, and strong teamwork. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1iM1uK2iP_kexlI6Ic0MZ0NZFp_QHmt0pfuE5g1ScbQY/edit?usp=sharing

Education for All

Essential Question:

How does a community Lending Library increase opportunity and open new doors?

[su_tabs active=”1″][su_tab title=”Student Film”]

 [/su_tab] [su_tab title=”Impact Statement”]

Our goal for this project is to present people to people that might be less fortunate than us to the opportunity of reading and studying. We are hoping that children in particular will be motivated to read and go to school, even if they are told they cannot. We think that money should not limit your chances in life; therefore everyone should be able to read a book.

[/su_tab][su_tab title=”Workshop Content”]

Our lesson plan involves our audience experiencing what it’s like to be illiterate. We hope that this lesson plan will change the mindset of our audience and introduce the idea of why we are doing the Lending Library.
