Flag

The Moroccan flag was designed in 1912 and adopted on November 17, 1915. Its simple design and colors hold much meaning and significance to the Moroccan people. The color red proclaims the descent of the Alaouite family from the Islamic prophet Mohammed and represents character traits that include hardiness, bravery, and strength. The five-pointed green star in the center of the flag, also known as Solomon’s seal, represents the five pillars of Islam and signifies the ties between God and the nation. The color green in the flag honors themes such as joy, love and hope.
