As you create and develop your project you will closely monitor and document your efforts while discovering and forging relationships with community allies, mentors and partners. For many of you, it will not be creating more work but celebrating and sharing your efforts to date.<\/p>\n<p>*** We strongly suggest that you start\u00a0with our guiding units under \u201cGet Started: Start a Project\u201d main menu tab.<\/p>\n<p>You will find our inquiry based units will help you craft your action plan, message, and conference workshop. You will also find a \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/globalissuesnetwork.org\/learn-about-our-global-issues\/\" target=\"_blank\">Learn\u00a0About Our Global Issues<\/a>\u201d tab where you can find short videos and excerpts from Jean Francois Rischard\u2019s book, \u201cHigh Noon- 20 Global Problems, 20 years to Solve Them\u201d to get your started in understanding and connecting our shared global issues and your innovative solutions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Register for a GIN Conference:<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Go to our conference timeline and click on an upcoming conference you would like to attend. \u00a0You will find a registration tab to sign up to attend the conference. Follow all the steps to register. \u00a0(Please read these registration steps closely as there may be special travel considerations such as vaccinations, visas, etc.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"post-124\" class=\"post-124 page type-page status-publish hentry\">\n<h2 class=\"ss-section-title\">How to prepare to attend the conference?<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The GIN group should meet regularly. Schools are invited to send a GIN team (or four) to the conference. Each team is made up of 2-6 students from Grades 7-12. Two adult advisers must accompany your school\u2019s students, whether you send one or more teams. There should be at least a 1:2 ratio of advisors to teams if your are bringing more then two teams.<\/p>\n<p>We will accept a total of 450 students and advisers to our conference. \u00a0Conference registration costs may vary according to location (cost of living, currency value, etc.)<\/p>\n<p><b>Note:<\/b> We would like to stress that younger students will be expected to\u00a0bring their passion and focus as they will be required to participate in all aspects of the conference. They must be committed to\u00a0rising\u00a0to the many challenges a GIN conference provides.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"ss-section-title\">What are the key responsibilities of your team?<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"post-124\" class=\"post-124 page type-page status-publish hentry\">\n<p><strong>\u00a0<a title=\"Student Workshop Guidelines\" href=\"http:\/\/globalissuesnetwork.org\/student-workshop-guidelines\/\" target=\"_blank\">Student Workshop Guidelines<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The student team is asked to prepare an interactive workshop (wireless will be provided at the conference) on their efforts to address a global issue with sustainable solutions. The team will present this workshop to 20-30 other delegates. These will also be streamed to allow for a larger audience. Check out the Student Workshop Guidelines\u00a0GIN page for more details.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<a title=\"Film Festival Guidelines\" href=\"http:\/\/globalissuesnetwork.org\/film-festival-guidelines\/\" target=\"_blank\">Film Festival Guidelines<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Also, each team of students needs to make a short (less than 2 minutes) film about the project to be posted to the website and shown at the conference Film Festival. \u00a0You can find a Film Festival Guide under the workshop guide (hover over \u201cHow to Prepare for a GIN Conference\u201d and you will see both guides).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"ss-section-title\">What are the components of the conference?<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Entirely student led and organized conference.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Keynote speakers from around the world will present on their projects, lead a skill based workshop and work with students to heighten student project efficacy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Student run interactive GIN project workshops\u00a0by teams of incoming student conference participants\u00a0working locally to affect global issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Global Villages, student facilitated small group discussion, processing and learning. \u00a0Global Villages will examine climate change through a lens of community building and empathetic action. \u00a0A safe space for students to explore and express themselves while building a larger network of allies and authentic friendships.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Student project teams will spend time during their conference reflecting and developing their project.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A Global Issues Fair will offer students the chance to talk with NGOs\u00a0creating change in the local community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Film Festival will screen a film made by each incoming GIN Project Team\u00a0to be shown\u00a0before their workshop.
