Ashley’s Bio Page

Hey everyone! My name is Ashley and I am currently a senior at the Swiss School of Curitiba, in Brazil.

My journey with GIN started in 2018. I had basically no experience with after-school clubs and activism, so it was a very interesting experience. I am very happy to be one of the Founders of the GBP. Our team has been working very hard to create a solid base for future members!

Overall, being a part of GIN has allowed me to grow as a person and leader, understand the interconnected systems we live in, and how we can sustainably solve global issues.

In my own club, I am the Logistics and Finance Manager, but I am also engaged in other projects. Check them out below!

My beginning with GIN…

My first GIN project was called “Waste Sorting and Plastic Reduction”. As the name implies, our aim was to decrease the use of single-use plastic and improve recycling in our school. I am proud to say that we erradicated plastic straws and cups from school and are now passing the initiative to nearby restaurants!

In 2019, I attended my first GIN conference in Peru. It was a fun, educational, and overall crazy experience. I will forever remember it. There were so many inspirational life stories. Truly amazing!

It even inspired us to plan our own conference, which sadly didn’t happen this year 🙁

What I’m currently working on…

GIN Network in Brazil

I’ve been working with an amazing team for the past couple of months on developing the first GIN Network in Brazil! I believe it will be an amazing way to connect GIN members and exchange knowledge and experience. I believe the GBP will help us reach this goal!

GIN Video Team

In collaboration with students from Costa Rica, I have been working on a series of videos that will hopefully make GIN more clear and accessible by explaining its mission and vision, how it empowers students, and how new members can join!

Virtual Conference Model

We decided to turn our disappointment into productivity. In collaboration with my school’s IT Team, our GIN club is prototyping a GIN virtual conference model! An online conference will provide new challenges and new horizons to GIN as a connected global community!

If you are ever curious as to what my club is up to, I highly recommend checking out our Instagram page!

As for me, there’s not much to say. I’m full of contradictions. I love fashion but wear hoodies 90% of the time (and poke my finger every time I try to sew). I like makeup but can’t apply eyeliner for the life of me. I enjoy videogames but I’ve been playing mostly The Sims lately.

I guess I like to do many things at once. And I like that. Here you go, an old picture of me and my dogs looking insane 🙂

Thank you for reading.
