Hi there!
I am Sally Song, a senior at Reedley International School in Pasig City, Philippines. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, USA; however, I had moved to the Philippines in 2018 and started a new life here!
I absolutely love helping people, whether they be students, toddlers, adults, friends, or strangers. Back in the US, I was a teacher assistant at Apple Tree Academy and Brentwood Science Magnet Elementary School. There, I helped with grading tests, teaching students the basics of the different subjects, creating science and art projects with them, and looking after them during their breaks and on field trips. I also babysat a family friend’s kids nearly every weekend ever since they were born (they’re now 7 and 12 years old!).
Moreover, I was a member of the Big Mountain Leo Club, a youth organization of Lions Club International. I participated in several fundraisers by playing in orchestras, joining Christmas Kettles with the Salvation Army LA Korean Corps, taking part in recycling projects, and more.
In addition, I volunteered for many activities at Reedley, such as Parent-Teacher Chats, New Smiles (a welcome party for new students), Middle School Teacher’s Day, and an Anti-Bullying Talk for Middle School, to name a few. Furthermore, I was previously a Class President and the STEM Representative, and I am now the EXECOM Vice President to provide myself more opportunities to improve student life through system adjustments and school events.
These are only some instances that demonstrate my passion in helping. As one of the Founders of the Global Bridge Program, I believe I can help a larger community and create long-lasting change.
I aspire for Reedley’s GIN Club to serve as an avenue for students to address shared global issues by engaging with our community. Above all, the Club can foster teamwork and allow students to understand their place in the world as global citizens. Alone, we can only do so much, but as a GIN Team, we can and we will change the world and ourselves for the better.
