The Incentive Program for Natural Heritage Private Reserves (RPPN)of the Atlantic Forest, a partnership between Conservation International and Funda\u00e7\u00e3o SOS Mata Atl\u00e2ntica (Atlantic Forest\u00a0SOS\u00a0Foundation), celebrated 10 years in 2013! During this period the program supported the creation of 392 new private reserves \u2013 194 already recognized \u2013 and the management of other 101 existing reserves, totaling 57,000 hectares protected. RPPNs are protected areas created by the will of the landowner who decides to turn his land into a reservation and assume commitment to nature conservation.<\/p>\n
Meet the RPPN Mitra do Bispo, in Bocaina de Minas (MG), in the video below, presented by with Carlos Alberto Bello\u00a0Simas, owner of RPPN. The reserve has a vast database of images that is used as asustainable alternative use of the area.<\/p>\n
Comparing it to a traditional farm, instead of farming machinery, an image-producing farm has cameras, recorders, computers and drawing boards.<\/p>\n
The cultivated field<\/strong> is the forest.<\/p>\n The images\u00a0harvested<\/strong>\u00a0at different seasons<\/strong><\/p>\n are stored<\/strong> in digital files.<\/p>\n After being processed<\/strong> through graphic design,<\/p>\n the final product<\/strong>\u00a0offered\u00a0to the market\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n holds the visual megadiversity<\/strong> of the Altantic Forest.<\/p>\n
