The Global Village Fair is an event that is centered on accessibility and the exchange of knowledge through networking and exposure to active local NGO’s. These NGO’s have offered to table and or do a workshop at the conference regarding the Global Issue they are driven to take on as change makers. The Global Village Fair encourages and includes local student groups to be involved in this event as well. We encourage NGO’s and student groups to not only interact and exchange ideas with GIN participants but teachers, their fellow Global Village Fair NGO’s and student groups.

AAH is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization based in the United States that helps children in rural Uganda reach their full potential. We built a model school and two health clinics so that education and healthcare, local development, and community outreach could improve the quality of life and transform poor villages into self-sustaining communities. We do this by engaging a caring community of volunteers, child sponsors, donors, partners and friends in the United States, Uganda and throughout the world.
My name is Lunda Lalondi Vincente, and I am a congolese man in a refugee camp in Zimbabwe. I fled the violence that killed my entire family in Congo. As an artist I work collaboratively with Lony Kiza, my fellow refugee to produce powerful drawings on the topic of environmental protection. The drawings, essays, and poems lays out my voice of pleading to be heard. My artworks connects the destruction of my home, the annihilation of my family, my own hair’s-breath escape from being shot, the deforestation that robs the gorillas of our habitat- all that has impacted my life. My message to society is the basic needs of every person on earth should be met: Clean water, food, fuel to cook food with. I am urging others to stop, to look carefully at nature’s abundance, to care for the earth, our mother.

Building Tomorrow envisions a world where every child with a desire to learn has a safe, permanent and local place to do so. Working towards this goal, Building Tomorrow empowers young people to invest their resources, time and talents in providing students in East Africa with access to an education. Since Building Tomorrow’s founding in 2006, thousands of students across the US have raised over $600,000 for the construction of schools in rural Uganda, have developed a strong connection to their global community and have gained an understanding of the privileges and opportunities we so often take for granted. In Uganda, each school serves as a source of pride and a catalyst for change within the community. We have seen roads built, gardens harvested, scholarships funded, teachers organized, and housing constructed as a direct result of communities being empowered to help themselves.

The mission of the Tregaron Conservancy is to preserve, rehabilitate and maintain Tregaron Estate’s historic landscape that dates back to 1912. With thirteen acres of land in Washington, DC, placed into a conservancy as open green space never to be developed, the Tregaron Conservancy has been cleaning up and stabilizing a severely neglected and deteriorated landscape. The Conservancy is restoring this famous property, following the original maps and plans of Tregaron Estate’s renowned landscape architect Ellen Biddle Shipman, who was commissioned by prominent architect Charles Adams Platt.
