Essential Question:
Why should I worry about what I eat? How does your diet influence your personal healthy and lifestyle?
Description:
How is a leader a good leader if he is not healthy? Of what use is it having the time and energy to do something, but having your health limit you? Let’s start spreading awareness of the importance healthy eating, and how what you do today, affects your tomorrow. People around all corners of the world are suffering from malnutrition; we want to help them understand the risks and give them means though which to overcome this problem. And to those people who are not? Well, we hope to make them realize the importance of having a healthy lifestyle through various interactive workshops.
Plan for Sustainability:
We will add more members to it and make sure they are freshman and junior, so they can continue it. Present to more schools, and children, and have a greater audience. Research more about the effects on unhealthy food. Maybe even try to change the food in our Cantina to make it more healthy. Even though we will not be in school, we still will give presentations and make people aware of the effects on unhealthy food.
Essential Question:
How can we use sports to partner our community with hunger organizations in Argentina to help relieve the plight of hunger in Argentina?
Workshop Description:
Since we all live in a country that aren’t fully developed, we see hunger and poverty every day. We are all fortunate to have the things we have today, since there are so many people who don’t have them. So our project’s goal is to help out these people in Argentina and we are inspired to make a small change in this country. We will discuss how we plan to achieve this goal and how it can be done at other schools globally.
Plan for Sustainability:
We are aiming to donate to organizations in Argentina, but if we can we will expand. We are planning on raising awareness about these issues and also donate food and create sustainability among Argentine communities by organizing a Saturday event and all the money made from that will go to helping these Argentine organizations.
This event will be a semi annual event that contributes to Techo para Mi País – raising funds and awareness every year.
Students and other community members will begin working with Techo para Mi País outside of our semi-annual event and the event will spread to neighboring international schools as well.
Essential Question:
What measures can be taken to create experienced leaders that will help our community today, and help our world tomorrow?
Workshop Description:
At the Youth Delegates of South America (YDSA) workshop we will show how we are changing our community and our world through Model United Nations. In 2014, we at ISC founded WildMUN, our own, student-led, Model UN delegation. From there we revolutionized the concept, making it an organization that prepares students not only to be delegates, but to leaders, decision-makers and critical thinkers. We will talk about our work and show how what we do, will affect our society and world in the future.
Plan for Sustainability:
Our plan is to continue developing our skills as instructors, growing the number of participants in the organization and broadening the opportunities for its participants. Our project will look like a tradition. Everyone in school will know WildMUN, at it will be the best. In 10 years our younger brothers and sisters will be participating in WildMUN. A organization devoted to leadership and diplomacy, only for the best students in school.
Essential Question:
Why is donating blood important to our society and how can we promote awareness
Description:
In Brazil, donating blood isn’t common. Many people do not donate blood because they don’t have the knowledge and the information required to become a donor. Red Drops for Life is a student-led project that creates awareness and encourages the act of donating blood. First, our project recruits people to donate at the hematology center of Bahia, HEMOBA. Second, our project encourages future donors, teenagers from 13-16 years old, to donate when they achieve all of the needed requirements. In the future, the group is aiming to make this project a school tradition, in which every 6 months the HEMOBA bus will come to the school campus, promoting a blood drive. #BEADONOR
Plan for Sustainability:
In the years ahead of us, we will be trying to implement the project as a school tradition. Our School will be having an annual assembly where someone from HEMOBA (Hematology Center of Bahia) presents a lecture for future donors, explaining the importance of donating blood. Also, there is a proposal presented to the school, where the HEMOBA blood collection bus can come to school once a year for a whole day so parents, staff members, juniors and
senior students will have the opportunity to donate blood. The project is sustainable since there are many options to have people donate blood and become regular donors.
Our goal is so that in 5 years our project has implemented annual lectures and presentations with Hemoba so the future donor project can grow in our community. Also we will be having possible day to meet with people from our school community to meet at a specific date at HEMOBA (the hematology center in Bahia) so that we can have small blood drives. Our last goal is to promote possible donors to donate blood in they own time as a community act as one of their own interests.
Our project hopefully will have a strong tie with our school, so that by having annual assemblies relating the future donor project , we can take the Hemoba blood collecting bus to our campus and have a new event for blood donations for our community or incorporate the blood donations into another annual school event.
