SALOME BEYER VELEZ
Salome is a 7th grade student at the Columbus School who will be sharing her personal experiences working as an advocate for women. Salome has worked with the UN several times in the past, raising money for pre-selected campaigns and participating in some of their programs. In September of last year, she received an offer from the UN. GIRL UP was introduced to Salome, and she created the very first GIRL UP CLUB in Colombia. So far, Salome and her team have raised 150.000 pesos using the piggy bank strategy in their neighborhoods. In the future, the GIRL UP chapter would like to raise 200 dollars to donate to girls in Guatemala, and if possible, a few bicycles. Salome actively participates in several school activities, including Destination Imagination in the past for three consecutive years.
